The Reef to Rainforest 5-day package
The clearest reason to use this agent is its own packages. The Reef to Rainforest 5-Day Package combines two nights on Lady Elliot Island with two nights at Kingfisher Bay Resort on K'gari. It is priced per person, twin share, with a choice of Garden Unit or Reef Unit on Lady Elliot; the current price is on experienceherveybay.com.au.
According to the package page, that includes the return flight from Hervey Bay to Lady Elliot, breakfasts plus buffet lunches and dinners on the island, a glass-bottom boat and guided snorkel tour, return transfers and the ferry via River Heads to Kingfisher Bay, and a full-day ranger-guided Beauty Spots 4WD tour on K'gari (Lake McKenzie, rainforest, beaches, the shipwreck). National park fees are included. The package is not sold on some peak dates: 19 September to 11 October, and 12 December to 26 January.
Building this yourself means booking Lady Elliot's flights and rooms, the ferry and a Kingfisher Bay room separately. A package saves the juggling; it does not necessarily save money, and we have not priced the parts to compare.

How booking with Experience Hervey Bay works
Its terms set out the model plainly. The agent issues tickets for a "Service Operator", and reconfirmations go directly to that operator. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. The main points:
- Cancellation: the operator's policy applies, and the agent says policies "vary from operator to operator"; each product page shows its terms.
- Card surcharge: a small non-refundable surcharge on Visa and Mastercard.
- Changes: voucher reissues and tour transfers carry a minimum A$20 administration fee.
- Operator cancels: if no suitable alternative is offered, you are refunded minus a 20% administration fee.
- Weather: all departures are subject to weather, and travel insurance is recommended.
That last fee is the one to weigh. Booking a whale trip through GetYourGuide, its terms refund the booking price if the operator cancels for weather. Booking direct, the operator's own terms apply: K'gari Explorer, for example, refunds direct bookings it cancels for extreme weather. Through this agent, an operator cancellation without an alternative costs you a fifth of the price.
Operators' own cancellation terms still apply
Because the operator's policy sits underneath, know what the main ones say. Direct, Fraser Experience Tours refunds in full only more than 48 hours out; K'gari Explorer allows 24 hours on day and 2-day tours but 7 days on its 3- to 5-day tours; Fraser Dingo 4WD Adventures gives no refunds within 7 days.
